We all start together AND we all finish together.
Lace up those shoes and Let's Ruck!
Hiking with Ruck That offers a unique and dynamic outdoor adventure experience. Participants will explore new trails and landscapes while focusing on fitness and personal growth.
Ruck That hikers can benefit from expert guidance, access to curated routes, and the camaraderie of like-minded individuals.
Our organized hikes often incorporate themed challenges or charitable causes, adding purpose and excitement to each outing.
Whether you're a seasoned rucker or new to the activity, hiking with Ruck That offers an opportunity to push boundaries, and be part of a vibrant community dedicated to outdoor adventure and wellness.
We do 5K rucks on Tuesday and/or Thursday evenings starting at 7pm (about 60 minutes) as well as a longer 15K - 20K ruck on Sunday mornings (these are 4-5 hours).
Post ruck coffees/cocktails/meals are often "a thing"
PLUS the Mother Rucker in October, a 50K+ adventure!
Please reach us at ruckthatcanada@gmail.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.
For now we are a free club, but any donations to cover expenses like this site etc are appreciated.
No, BUT, as you get more advanced you will probably start upgrading your "kit"
Starting out you will need:
a well fitting pair of shoes
a backpack (preferably with a waist-belt)
And some form of weight.
I use 5lb and 10lb sandbags, but a 1 Liter bottle of water weighs 2.2lbs, that same bottle filled with sand will weigh 3.4lbs. You could add standard weight plates, medicine balls, books... You get the idea. I like starting with sand or water because if I have over-estimated how much I can carry it's easy to dump some out.
Also, a pair of garden gloves is great if you plan on doing the extra callisthenics we add to each ruck
Rucking was first introduced by the military to train soldiers to carry heavy loads over long distances. So, while you don't need to be SEAL fit to join, if walking at a good pace for an hour is outside your current abilities maybe start smaller and join us once you reach that milestone.
For a regular ruck, you should bring a backpack (duh), water, snacks, and a small first-aid kit. If rain is in the forecast, rain gear is a great choice. Daytime ruckers should also add sunscreen, hat and sunglasses. We will provide a detailed list for our Mother Rucker in October
We love dogs, I'd love to bring mine along, BUT in fairness to everyone we need to be pet free
A child in a stroller is your choice, but because we set a brisk pace and need everyone to finish together we are a 16+ club
Unless you have developed some super power, you will probably get wet. Ruckers don't quit because of a little bit of weather
If you encounter wildlife while hiking, give them plenty of space and do not approach them. Make noise to make your presence known and slowly back away. Do not feed or try to touch the animals.
Do you have a question about one of our hikes?
Send me a message, and I will get back to you as soon as I can.
